How to add flair to a Reddit post
Reddit’s subtle system is a great way to add extra context to posts you’ve made in a given subreddit. If you’re a frequent poster, subreddit moderator, or Reddit admin, you may also want to separate yourself from other users by adding user flair that appears next to your username.
If you’re looking to add flair to a Reddit post, you’ll need to check the rules of your chosen subreddit first. Some subreddits don’t allow for post subtlety, while others may insist on it for certain post categories (such as posts asking for help). You can add your own tiers or apply one from the moderator-approved list of options.
- To add flair to your Reddit post with the new web interface, you need to create your post first. Open the Reddit site and log in by selecting Log in at the top right.
- Once you are logged in, use the search bar to access your selected subreddit or open the subreddit manually by adding the subreddit /r/ link in the address bar (eg: reddit.com/r/news). Once you’ve reached the subreddit, select Create post button to start a new post.
- inside Create post , choose the right title and body text for your post. To add a new flair, choose Capacity drop-down menu, then choose one of the subtle options available. If this is grayed out, you won’t be able to add flair to the post yourself, and you’ll need moderators to do it for you. In some cases, post flair may be added automatically when the post is created.
- If the subreddit allows you to change certain subtle text, you can do this by editing the text in Subtle editing right below the subtle Reddit you’ve chosen. Once you’ve chosen sophistication, choose Application to add to your post.
- Once you’ve added flair to your post, choose parcel to post it on your selected subreddit.
- You will be taken to your post immediately after submission. If you forgot to add the subtlety (or if you want to edit or remove it) you can change this after submission (if the subreddit allows it) by selecting three-dot menu icon > Subtle editing.
- inside Exquisite choice menu, select the flair you want to add to your post, then select Application. Also, choose Clear Flair to remove any previously added terms from your post, then select Application to confirm the change.
How to Add Flair on Reddit to Your Username
While Reddit flairs are useful for posts, you can also apply them to your username in certain subreddits. For each post and comment you make, the subtlety you (or moderators) selected will show up next to your username.
As with posting fairs, username fairs on Reddit are restricted to certain subreddits. Some subreddits prevent all username errors, while others may just allow moderators to add duets. You will need to check the rules of the subreddit you are posting to to check if you are allowed to add more information.
- If the user class is restricted by moderators, you will need to message the moderator in your selected subreddit to have them add one for you. You check the moderators for your subreddit by watching Operator in your subreddit, show up in the right panel. Choose Message the mods option to submit a request (if appropriate to do so).

- inside Choose Flair select the user’s flair from the list provided, make sure that Show off my user flair on this community checkbox is selected. Choose Application to save preferences.
- If you want to remove the added flair, select Clear Flair instead, choose Application to save changes.
Add bridges to mobile posts and usernames
If you are using the official Reddit app for Android or Iphone device you can also add stairs to post or username. You’ll need to first install the app and sign in to your device before you can do this.
- To add bridges to a post in the Reddit app, open the subreddit and create a new post by selecting add button.
- Fill in the appropriate post details in Post text menu, including post title, subreddit post destination, and post text. For added flair (if the subreddit allows it), choose Add flair icon just below the title box.
- Choose a suitable subtle from the list of scales in Post subtlety menu. If you want to edit the subtlety, select it first, then select Edit at the top right. To remove subtleties, choose Not available. Option Application to apply flair to your writing.
- With flair applied, choose parcel in the top right corner.
- If you want to add a post flair to an existing post, open it first, then select three-dot menu icon > More exquisite articles right to buy. This option will change to Change the subtlety of the post when a subtlety has been applied to a post.
- To add a user flair to your username in the subreddit, open the subreddit by searching for it using the search bar. Choose three-dot menu icon > Changing the user’s sophistication to make changes.
- inside User sophistication menu, choose a suitable flair from the list provided or choose Not available to remove an existing subtlety. If you want to edit the subtlety, select it first, then select Edit at the top right. Please make sure that Show my success in this community slider is enabled, then select Application to show it in all posts and comments made in that subreddit.
How to use Reddit effectively
Adding Reddit flair to a post (or to your username) is a quick way to add extra context and personalization, but there are other things you can do to use Reddit more effectively. For example, if you want to upvote (or downgrade) other users’ posts or comments, you can add karma by approving or disapproving them.
