It all started on the Etsy homepage. After you sign up and tell Etsy that you want to open your Etsy store, the wizard guides you through everything you need to set up and operate your store.
- To get started, sign up for an Etsy account or, if you already have one, log in and select Sell on Etsy from the profile drop-down menu.

- Then choose Begin button.

- If you leave and want to continue setting up your store later, you can return here by selecting Shop steward Icon.

If you’ve told Etsy that you want to be a store owner, but you don’t set up shop right away, you’ll receive periodic emails reminding and encouraging you to return to etsy.com. The sooner you finish setting up your store, the sooner you’ll land your first sale.
Shopping hobby
The first step in setting up your store is choosing your store preferences.

- Choose your store’s primary language, country, and currency. All your product listings will be in the default language you choose, and you can’t change it later, so choose carefully! However, you can add other languages later.

- Next, let Etsy know what kind of small business entrepreneur you are. Is this your full time job or a side job?
- Option Save and continue.
Name your store
Next, you’ll make some big decisions.

- Enter your Etsy store name, but don’t worry, you can always change it later. Store name must be between 4-20 characters. Etsy will automatically check the availability of the shop name you enter. If it is already in use, it will suggest some alternatives.

- Once you find an available name, select Save & Continue.
Your store inventory
Start stocking your store by adding a unique product.

- Add an image of your first product. You can upload multiple product photos that show your product from any angle and in different settings. Option More photos to upload an image. Tip: Quality product photography is crucial to attracting customers.

- Adjust the thumbnail image customers will see when your product appears in Etsy search results.

- Next, you can choose to upload a 5-15 second video showcasing your product. The video will have no sound, even if you recorded it when you created it.

- All Etsy listings must have a product description. Import Title for your first item and make sure it includes words that customers will use to search for your product.
- Now answer a few questions about your item. Who made it? What is it? When is it done? Tip: Customers and craftspeople shopping for antiques may be looking for products made in a certain period of time, so make sure your information is accurate.

- Import Type for your item. If you enter a description that is two or three words long, Etsy will suggest several possible categories of similar items for you to choose from.

- Optionally, choose a primary and secondary color for your listing.

- Next, choose the renewal options for your list. Products are listed for four months or until they are sold out. Option automatic renewal to have your list auto-renew. You will be charged a $0.20 listing fee for each auto-renew.

- Next, tell Etsy whether the item is a physical product that you will deliver to the customer or if it is a digital file that the customer will download.

- Now it’s time to enter your product description. The first lines are the most important because that’s what the customer will see first. Etsy will show you how your product will appear in Google search results. Tip: Increase traffic to your store by learning more about search engine optimization (SEO) before you write your product description.

- If you have a manufacturing partner — anyone who isn’t part of your store but helps you manufacture the item — enter their information.

- Next you will have the option to add Part, Cardand Material for your list.

- inside Inventory and Pricing Enter the product price, the number of available products to be sold and, if you wish, your internal SKU for the product.

- Next, add Variations such as the different sizes or colors your products have.

- If your item can be personalized, turn on Personalized and enter personalized instructions for customers.

- Next, enter Shipping in progress options for your product. You can let Etsy calculate the shipping cost for your item, or you can set the shipping cost manually. Enter the zip code of where you will ship the packages and how long it will take for you to ship a product once the customer has submitted the order.

- Enter the countries you will ship to and the buyer can choose which shipping service at checkout. You will also have the option of offering free shipping to customers and/or an additional handling fee.

- Option Save as shipping record if you want to reuse these shipping options for another product.
- Next, enter the entry of weight and size when packing. Etsy charges customers for shipping globally, and if you’re in the United States, Etsy can provide shipping labels that you can purchase and print directly from your Etsy store.

- Option Save and continue.
