How to find your phone number on iPhone and Android

When you purchase a new SIM card, the unique identifier (i.e. phone number) assigned to the SIM card is usually printed on the packaging. However, some service providers do not pre-assign phone numbers to SIM cards until they are registered or activated.

Let’s say you lose your SIM card packaging or can’t remember the phone number assigned to your SIM card. How else do you find your phone number? Finding your phone number is pretty straightforward if you have an Android or iOS device.

However, the steps will vary depending on your phone model, operating system, user interface (UI) etc. This guide will show you how to find your phone number on your Android phone, iOS device and even feature phones. You’ll also learn how to find your phone number from Macs and Windows computers.

Find your phone number on iPhone and iPad

When you insert a SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, Siri will automatically detect your phone number from the settings menu and add it to your contact card.

Launch Phone app, go to Contact and tap your name in the “My Cards” section. Also, open Contact app and select your name tag to see your phone number.

You can delete the phone number if it is incorrect. Tap the “phone” tab, select No phone number suggestedand choose No phone number suggested again on the confirmation prompt.

Siri will separate the phone number from your contact card and stop suggesting the number is yours.

You can also find your phone number from the iOS settings menu. Open Setting application, select Phoneand check My number line for your phone number.

You can always edit or change the phone number if it is incorrect. Clap My numberenter the correct phone number and select Save.

Note that this phone number may be different from your Apple ID number — the phone number associated with your iCloud account. The Apple ID phone number is used for two-factor authentication, login verification, resetting your account password, etc.

To check your Apple ID phone number on iPhone and iPad, open Setting app, choose yours Apple ID nameclap Name, Phone number, Emailand check the phone number in the “Contactable at” section.

To set up an additional phone number for your Apple ID account, tap Editclap Add email or phone numberand choose Add phone number on the pop-up window.

Find iPhone phone number on Mac

If you’re using a Mac, plug your iPhone or iPad into your Mac using a USB cable and follow the steps below. Note that you may need to enter your device’s passcode.

  1. Launch Seeker and select your iPhone or iPad in the “Location” section of the sidebar.
  1. Your choice model name of iPhone, Seri numberor information storage until your phone number appears in the section.
  1. Your iPhone’s phone number will appear next to your IMEI number.
  1. Want to copy numbers to your Mac’s clipboard? Right-click or Control-click the number and select Copy phone number.

Find iPhone phone number on Windows

All you need to view your iPhone number from a Windows computer is a USB cable and the iTunes app. Install iTunes from the Microsoft Store, plug your iPhone into your PC, and follow the steps below.

Note: When you plug your iPhone into your PC, you may get a prompt to give your PC access to your data. Clap Trust and enter your iPhone passcode to continue if you get a prompt.

  1. Open iTunes and select phone icon in the toolbar, exactly next to the “Music / Movies / TV Shows / Podcasts / Audiobooks” drop-down menu.

That will redirect you to a new page showing your device information.

  1. Go to the “Summary” tab on the sidebar and check Phone number row to view your iPhone phone number.

You’ll find two phone numbers on this page if you have a dual-SIM iPhone– “Phone number 1” for SIM 1 and “Phone number 2” for SIM 2.

The iTunes app also lets you copy your iPhone’s phone number to the clipboard. Right click on the number and select Copy.

Find your phone number on Android

The steps to check your phone number in Android may vary depending on your device model and operating system version. However, Android also has some built-in mechanism to check your mobile number.

You can check the phone number associated with your SIM card from the settings menu, the Messages app, and using a carrier-specific USSD code.

Open Setting application, select About phoneand check Phone number line for your mobile number.

If you’re not using the stock Android skin (e.g. Samsung and LG), go to Setting > About the device (or About phone)> Status > My phone number.

Android will list multiple phone numbers if your phone uses more than one SIM card port/slot. If your phone number is listed as “Unknown”, restart your phone and check again. You can also try removing and reinserting your SIM card.

If your phone number is still listed as “Unknown”, check that it is running the latest version of Android. If not, go to Setting > System > Advanced > System update and make sure your phone has the latest Android version.

Find a phone number in the Messages app

The Messages app settings menu is another quick way to find your phone number on Android. Open Message application, select menu icon in the upper left corner and select Setting. Then choose Advanced and check the device’s phone number at the bottom of the screen.

Use the USSD code or contact your network service provider

Some mobile networks have unique shortcodes for checking phone numbers. These codes are mostly free and the results are immediate. Dial the shortcode and the number assigned to the SIM card on your phone will appear on the screen as a service message. Some mobile service providers may send SMS or text messages to your phone number.

A simple Google search will reveal the USSD code of your carrier network to check the phone number. Better yet, contact your network service provider via phone call — especially if you own a feature phone or can’t access the Internet.
