How to Enable Dark Mode in 14 Google Smartphone Apps

Eye strain is common in people who sit in front of screens for long hours every day. If you’re one of those people, you know what pain feels like, and it’s really bad for the long-term health of your eyes.

While you certainly don’t want to leave your job just because it requires you to work in front of a screen for long hours, there are a few things you can do to reduce stress. One of all use dark mode in your apps.

Who Turns Off the Lights?

Many apps these days have a dark mode option, so you can easily work with them for hours.

Google has also added a dark mode feature to many of their apps for Android and iPhone. If you use these apps daily, you can turn on dark mode and reduce eye strain.

Enable Dark Mode in Google Calculator

Google Calculator is one of the apps that supports dark mode, and turning it on is quite simple.

Launch the app on your device, tap the three dots in the upper right corner, select Choose a themeknock on Darkand finally hit ALRIGHT.

It will enable dark mode in the app for you.

Enable Dark Mode in Google Calendar

If you use the large G Calendar for your appointments and schedules, you may want to enable dark mode so that the large white interface that spans your entire screen turns into a more readable black interface.

To do that, open the app, tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, select Settingknock on Sharedoption Topicand choose Dark. Your calendar will now be dark.

While most phones come with their own version of the watch app, some users prefer Google’s apps to any other phone.

If you’re one of those users, here’s how to turn it into a dark app.

Launch the Clock app, tap the three dots in the upper right corner, select Settingand activate Night mode right to buy.

You will immediately see the app transform into a dark app.

Again, you may have your device manufacturer’s contacts app pre-installed on your device, but some users prefer Google’s app.

The app will go dark as soon as the dark theme option is selected.

If you’re a fitness buff and love to record your workouts, chances are you use the Google Fit app on your device. If that’s the case, your favorite app now has a dark mode that you can enable and use.

To enable, open the app, tap File at the bottom, tap the settings icon in the top right corner, select Topicand then select Dark.

Google Keep is my favorite app for taking notes because it comes with all the features I want and syncs well across all my devices.

With the new dark mode feature, the app becomes even more appealing to me because it makes the whole app look neater and cleaner than in light mode.

To enable this mode, open the app on your device, tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, select Settingand turn Turn on dark theme switch to the ON position.

Google Maps goes dark sometimes, but it doesn’t stay that way forever. However, enabling dark mode will take care of that for you, and the app will stay dark for as long as you want.

Open the Maps app on your device, tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, select Settingtouch Navigation settings options, and scroll down and select Night inside Color board menu.

Google Messages is slowly gaining popularity and now a lot of people use it to send and receive text messages. If you’re one of these users, here’s how to make reading your messages more comfortable.

Launch Message app on your device, tap the ellipsis in the top right corner and select Turn on dark mode right to buy. The entire application interface will turn dark.

Enable Dark Mode in Google News

Google News also features a dark mode, so your headlines and stories are easy to read. Enabling this mode takes just a few quick and easy steps, and here’s how.

Launch News app on your device, tap your profile icon in the top right corner, select Settingknock on Dark themeand choose Always right to buy.

Now the dark theme will always be used in the app on your device.

Enable Dark Mode in Google Play Games

Google Play Games has also received a dark mode, which makes your whole experience darker.

To enable it, open the app, tap the ellipsis in the upper right corner, select Settingand turn on Use dark theme right to buy. Are you ready.

Enable Dark Mode in Google Snapseed

Google Snapseed’s photo editing app now has a dark mode to make it easier to edit your photos for hours.

Dark mode can be enabled by launching the app, clicking on the ellipsis in the upper right corner, selecting Settingand finally turn on Dark theme right to buy.

Enable Dark Mode in YouTube

Dark mode offers a great nighttime viewing experience in the YouTube app, and it’s recommended that you enable it on your device.

Open YouTube app, tap your profile icon in the upper right corner, select Settingknock on Sharedand activate

Enable Dark Mode in Google Chrome

Google Chrome also has a dark mode option, but you can’t enable it like you do in other Google apps on your device. Chrome first asks you to enable the flag, and then it adds a dark mode option to the browser.

  • Launch Chrome browser and type chrome://flags in the address bar and press enter.
  • Find and enable flags that say Android Chrome UI Dark Mode.

Once the flag is enabled, go to Chrome’s settings by tapping the three dots in the top right corner and selecting Setting. Then tap Topic and choose Dark as your theme.

Chrome will immediately have a black interface and you will see it on your device.

Enable Dark Mode in Gboard

It seems that Google doesn’t want any of their apps to be left without a dark mode option. Now joining the list of dark mode apps is Gboard, which isn’t really an app but a keyboard.

Open any app where you can enter text and Gboard will appear. Tap the Settings icon to open Gboard settings. Option Topic on the settings screen and then select the dark theme from the list.
