How to connect your Windows laptop to a mobile hotspot

If your internet connection drops in and out or your service provider is down for the day, don’t worry. It’s easy to connect your laptop to a mobile hotspot and restore the Internet so you can get back to work.

Here’s how you can connect your Windows laptop to a portable hotspot via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB.

What is a mobile hotspot?

Mobile hotspot allows your phone to act like a router, sharing your data connection (your mobile data plan or whatever Wi-Fi network it is connected to) with other devices. With this function, you can always connect to the Internet on your laptop even if your main Internet is disconnected for some reason.

Remember that using a wireless hotspot drains your phone’s battery, uses your mobile data much faster, and exposes you to malicious actors if you’re not careful.

Start Hotspot

The first step is to start up the mobile hotspot connection so your laptop can detect it.

To share your mobile hotspot on Android:

  1. Open Setting application.
  2. Option Connection.
  1. Scroll down and tap Mobile hotspot and tethering.
  1. Convert on Mobile Hotspot Setting.
  1. Clap Mobile Hotspot to view and change your password.

Note: The process may be slightly different depending on the brand and version of your Android device. If your Android hotspot isn’t working, try these ten fixes.

To share your mobile hotspot on Apple iPhone:

  1. Open Setting.
  2. Clap Personal hotspot.
  1. Turn on Allow others to join.

Note: The process may be slightly different depending on your iPhone model or iOS version. If your iPhone hotspot doesn’t work with Windows, try troubleshoot.

To connect to your portable hotspot using Windows 10:

  1. Your choice Everything will be ok.
  1. When prompted, enter network security key and click Next.
